Summary
Greg got the role of a lifetime - or at least he thought he did - playing the 'Taskmaster' in a new panel/quiz show. But alone on that stage against the contestants, with the gallery goading him to ever meaner cruelty, Greg finds himself bullied into bullying them. By the end of filming the pilot, he's furious, horrified, and as drunk as he can get, as he storms off and into the busy road...
Greg rounds the short wall, and sees him; a battered, bleeding, greying man crumpled against the red-brick wall, stuck between two potted shrubs. His other leg pulled up against his chest, his toes splayed on the cracked concrete driveway, slippy in the thick puddle of his own blood. His clothes – some kind of beige sleeveless shirt or dress – are smeared and soaked in that same red, darkening it dangerously. His head is thrown back, exposing his neck as he gasps and heaves and whimpers in pain. His brownish-grey short beard covers his blanched pale skin, and flakes of drying blood from higher up stain it even redder than it might have once been.
